CHELA Collective, one of the best places to see emerging talent in Baltimore, is excited to announce the opening of .iNTERSECTIONs. on April 10, 2004. Curated by collective member Talia Greene, the show features work by six cutting edge artists from the Mid-Atlantic and the San Francisco Bay Area who refuse to be categorized. Instead, they choose to hover at the intersection between familiar art-world dichotomies. In this exhibition, formalism and feminism, craftiness and conceptualism, collide to create a dazzling and diverse array of artwork.

Employing accessible and mundane materials, the pieces simultaneously transcend and embrace an obsession with craft and formal explorations of shape, line, and two and three-dimensional space. Building on the movements of past generations, these artists challenge the boundaries between disciplines and "isms" in art.

CHELA was founded in 2001 by local artists Jackie Milad and Bonnie Jones, with the mission of showcasing brave new art in all forms. In 2004, CHELA became a collective, and with renewed energy will continue to provide a platform for challenging visual art, performance, dance, and music for the Baltimore community.
