Installation View from 2007: Death Bizarre, Center for Photography at Woodstock |

| Observation/Preservation illustrates an unsettling juxtaposition of bugs before and after their dismemberment. The images of the whole insects are sympathetic, emphasizing their beauty, vulnerability, and delicacy. Scotch tape traps the dust and other detritus along with the bug part, suggesting a visceral, spontaneous, almost child-like approach to containment and observation. The spare quality of the prints is suggestive of a scientific diagram, yet closer inspection reveals a decidedly unscientific, even careless, method of observation and collecting. |
